Farmhouse Culture®, a leader in rich foods and beverages, was founded in 2008 by Kathryn Lukas in Santa Cruz, CA. A classically trained chef, Kathryn first fell in love with sauerkraut (“kraut”) while cooking in the restaurant she owned in Stuttgart, Germany.

When she returned to her native California, Kathryn saw the opportunity to introduce Americans to the taste of fresh kraut and its benefits for nurturing and maintaining better overall health.  With that passion as a driving force and the growing understanding of the importance of our microbiome, she assembled a team of like-minded enthusiasts to revive ancient traditions with reimagined and globally inspired flavors.

Today, Farmhouse Culture is recognized as being on the forefront of probiotic rich foods and beverages. Farmhouse Culture products are Organic, Non-GMO, Plant Based and Gluten-Free.

They make their Kraut and Gut Shot in small batches, starting with simple organic vegetables and a little salt. The salt draws out excess liquid from the vegetables, making them tender and pliable. As the vegetables release their natural juices, nature takes over and the process of lacto-fermentation begins.

LACTIC ACID FERMENTATION, also known as “culturing,” is a time-honored tradition that has been used for centuries to preserve and extend the harvest. Following lactic acid fermentation, our products are brimming with hardworking cultures (live active probiotics), incredibly bold flavors and ready to be enjoyed!

While probiotics have received quite the spotlight lately, what does that actually mean for you? Well did you know that 90 percent of the cells in your body are microbial? And of that, hundreds of trillions of those microbes are in the gut. So, a main way to keep the microbes, or microbiome, healthy, is a balanced diet full of enzymes, vitamins, beneficial bacteria and probiotics. While studies continue to showcase what a healthy gut can do for you, we’ve listed just a few: Strengthens the immune system, Improves digestion and can help with symptoms of IBS, Alleviates inflammation, Balances hormones, Removes toxins, Boosts energy, Aids in brain and mood functions.

Add some Kraut to your dishes today and fall in love!
