$ 4.59
Chino Valley Ranchers' Omega-3 eggs are produced from hens fed with the finest grown grain. Like the rest of our feeds, it is a pure vegetarian diet containing no antibiotics, steroids, or hormones, helping us bring your family California's best eggs. The feed for these birds contains corn, soybean, alfalfa, and flax seed. Including flax seed allows us to feed our chickens a vegetarian diet with high levels of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), also referred to as Omega-3 fatty acids. ALA has been shown to have positive health effects in humans, especially for cardiovascular health. The consumption of adequate omega-3 fatty acids is recommended to slow the growth of plaque in the arteries, reduce triglyceride levels, and reduce the risks of arythmias and deaths from cardiac events. There is evidence that omega-3 fatty acids also help reduce the inflammation of rheumatoid arthritis.

The average American currently does not consume enough sources of Omega-3 fatty acids and consumes too many Omega-6 fatty acids, which are common in the modern food supply because of the advent of omega - 6 rich cereal grains in our diet and as the feed for livestock.In addition to the direct benfits of ALA listed above, consuming more omega-3 would bring Americans closer to receiving the appropriate ratio of omega-3 to omega-6. Consuming this appropriate ratio promotes the conversion of ALA in the body to other essential fatty acids, namely docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). Both are important for brain health, especially during early development (fetal and infant). In adults, there is evidence that consuming the appropriate amounts can decrease dementia risks. The Center for the Disease Control and Prevention also suggests consuming a balanced diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids for healthy eyes throughout life. Our organic DHA Omega Eggs are also available to directly increase DHA in the diet. Increasing omega-3 intake through food sources is preferable. Excellent sources include fatty fish, flaxseeds, certain vegetable oils, and our organic eggs!
