Rosemary Maple Broiled Grapefruit

These Broiled Ruby Red Grapefruits infused with Rosemary Maple Glaze are the perfect sweet & light breakfast. It’s so sweet and tangy, with those slight herbaceous notes from the rosemary & is the perfect breakfast. Plus it makes breakfast feel super fancy, which isn’t all bad.

  1. Preheat your broiler on the hottest setting. 
  2. Spray a baking dish with coconut oil to prevent sticking.  Cut your grapefruit in half, and then trim the bottom side of the flesh slightly so that they stand up without rolling over. Place them in your baking dish. 
  3. Combine your maple syrup, finely chopped fresh rosemary, ground cinnamon, and sea salt in a bowl until completely smooth. 
  4. Pour 3/4 of the mixture evenly over the grapefruits, and then place under the broiler for 10-15 minutes (on the middle rack, not super close to the broiler). 
  5. Halfway through the cooking time, brush the remaining syrup overtop the grapefruits.  You want to broil them until everything has caramelized on the top.  You can alternatively (carefully) do this with a handheld torch as well if you don't have a broiler.  
  6. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 2-3 minutes.  Transfer to a plate & (optionally) serve with vegan yogurt & granola.
