Happy to Announce New Partnership to Improve Health for Children of Los Angeles!
There is an old saying that goes "Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime." We have sought to do do just that: Teach.
Milk and Eggs is excited to announce we have paired up with Project: FAST Food! Don't let the name fool you.
Project: Fast Food actually inspires and encourages both children and young adults to re-create their favorite meals using much healthier options with everyday ingredients. In addition, they also incorporate and encourage physical activity in between cooking time. This is to help boost metabolism, burning calories quicker.
It is very difficult and heartbreaking to see that 1 in every 3 children are
overweight or obese. Children and young adults that are overweight or obese are at greater risk for bone and joint problems, sleep apnea, and social and psychological problems.
In our partnership, the goal is to help fight against childhood obesity and prevent the onset of Type 2 Diabetes, as well prevent or lessen other health challenges that come as a result of living an unhealthy lifestyle.
Both Milk and Eggs and Project: FAST Food feel the change can be made, not by focusing on losing weight. Rather, by encouraging living a healthy and productive life. This will have a much longer and lasting affect. The children will feel great, too. By making this change, we know children will grow up with more self-confidence, discipline, the energy, and motivation to achieve and exceed in their goals.
We feel this can be done by educating children on how to consciously choose healthier food options. They can take this knowledge to grocery store and their favorite restaurants, and make healthier choices! We hope they also introduce healthier options to their friends and family and encourage healthier eating all around. These are important steps children can take with them as they grow up into healthy, physically active adults.
As Project: FAST Food has said, "Eating healthy is a choice. It never has to be boring, and it does not mean that it will taste bland. Eating healthy can be very affordable. It does not need to be complicated and can be created within an hour."
We are both looking forward to the support and involvement in our communities to help make this change happen. Who knows? Maybe our children will able to teach us a thing or two with their newfound skills ;)
