Have you ever bought strawberries but have no clue how to eat them other then normal? Sooner or later they go bad. You have many ways to eat a strawberry, just by itself, on top of anything; like ice cream, pancakes, french toast, and cake. Making them into desserts, like a cake, a crumble, donuts, or even ice cream; and don't forget about jam. Lets just talk about the main dishes though. You typically think pancakes, french toast, or even a salad, but what if I told you you could do more with those strawberries?
Lets start with the easiest strawberry recipe, a grilled cheese. This grilled cheese is a little different though, it has the normal things like cheese and bread, but lets put some bacon in there, and trade the American cheese with brie. Use a begat bread like instead of sliced bread and slice in diagonally. The bacon should be cooked nice and crispy, unless you don't like it that way. Once you have all the ingredients, you just cook it like a grilled cheese.
To keep the bacon, and brie in play, lets make a burger. What you'll need is ground chicken, onion (I don't like large chunks of onion so I just use the onion flakes), garlic clove, basil, mint, salt, pepper, strawberries, balsamic vinegar, brie, bacon, and buns. Before you do anything the brie has to be room temperature, and get the grill on at a low temperature. In a bowl combine the chicken, half an onion (for flakes its a tablespoon), glove of garlic chopped, half tablespoon of chopped basil, half tablespoon of mint, 3/4 teaspoon of salt and pepper and mix. Don't over mix or it wont form into patties. Once the patties are formed you need to cook them all the way through, but don't over cook. While those are cooking, cook the bacon. While the bacon and burgers are cooking combine the strawberries, the rest of basil, the rest of mint, 2 teaspoons of balsamic vinegar, and season to taste with pepper. When the burgers are almost done put the brie on. Once done, make burgers the way you want them.
Lets make a pizza, you'll need 1/2 cup strawberry jam, 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar, 1 teaspoon Sriracha Chili Sauce (or hot sauce), croissant roll dough, 1 cup of chicken (leftovers, or rotisserie), 1/2 cup applewood bacon (1 inch pieces), 1/2 cup sliced sweet onion, 12 ounces shredded Italian blend cheese, 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, and 1/4 cup strawberries. Spread out dough, and preheat the oven at 450. In a sauce pan bring the balsamic vinegar to a biol, then simmer for 4-5 minutes. After that add the jam and Sriracha and mix, then set aside. Coat the chicken with 2 tablespoons of the balsamic mixture. Rest of the mixture will be spread on the dough, after that sprinkle the chicken on top. Sprinkle 3/4 of cheese on top of the chicken. After scatter the bacon, and onion, then the cheese on top of that. Bake the pizza for 8-10 minutes or until crust is golden brown, but watch it carefully. When done, wait 1-2 minutes and sprinkle with cilantro, strawberries, and enjoy.
Strawberries are good either way you decide to eat them, but next time keep in mind there are other ways of eating them.
